Patna, May 25, 2026: A three-day intensive seminar on legal issues facing minority-managed institutions was held May 17–20 at Atma Darshan, Digha Ghat, Patna.
Organized by the Justice and Human Rights Forum, the program gathered 45 participants, including Provincials, Treasurers, Principals, Managers, and heads of institutions from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.
Early sessions focused on “a deeper study and understanding of the Vision of the Democratic Secular Nation envisaged in the Preamble” and its realization through Fundamental Rights, including religious and educational rights guaranteed to minorities.
Later discussions examined laws on land and property, employment regulations, disciplinary proceedings, and compliance with natural justice.
Participants also studied provisions of the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and the POSH Act (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace), emphasizing vigilance to safeguard minors and vulnerable adults.
The seminar reviewed the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA), which governs overseas funding, and clarified that the Right to Education (RTE) Act does not apply to minority institutions, while the Right to Information (RTI) Act applies only to aided institutions receiving state support.
Attendees praised the program’s “practical and relevant nature,” calling it a meaningful initiative toward legal empowerment and stronger governance of Christian religious, educational, and charitable institutions.
