Dimapur, May 14, 2026: The Salesian Province of Dimapur has expressed profound gratitude following the safe release of Brother Pamei Aching Albert SDB and Brother Poji Kiivisie Peter SDB, who were held captive since the night of May 13.

In an official communication from the Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur, Provincial Father Joseph Pampackal acknowledged the tireless efforts of civil society organizations, church leaders, community elders, police and well-wishers whose coordinated action ensured the brothers’ freedom.

He also conveyed appreciation to the Kuki community, who safeguarded the young religious during their time in captivity, underscoring the spirit of reconciliation and mutual respect that prevailed even in difficult circumstances.

Father Pampackal, writing to confreres, shared a deeply personal note of thanksgiving:

“Dear Confreres, with hearts filled with gratitude to God, I am happy to inform you that our two Brothers, Cl. Pamei Aching Albert and Cl. Poji Kiivisie Peter, have been safely released from captivity this night (14 May). We thank God for His providential care and protection over them, and for the loving and motherly intercession of Mary Help of Christians.”

He further expressed appreciation for the prayers, fraternal closeness and persistent efforts of individual confreres and communities, highlighting in particular the vice provincial, the provincial economer and the provincial secretary for their generous availability and coordination throughout the ordeal.

Quoting Scripture — “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9) and “Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding” (Romans 14:19) — the provincial emphasized the Salesians’ mission of peace-building and dialogue in the region.

Local Salesians say that they view the release of the two brothers as a sign of hope, strengthening bonds between communities and reaffirming the congregation’s commitment to serve with faith, courage and compassion.
