Roing, May 16, 2026: In a symbolic gesture of faith and unity, hundreds of young Catholics from the Miao Diocese set their daily alarms for 20:33 during a three-day Youth Convention at Divine Word School, Roing, marking their commitment to the forthcoming Great Jubilee 2033.
Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao underscored the global significance of the initiative. “The whole world is looking towards 2033—the Great Jubilee marking 2000 years of the Church and the missionary mandate of the Risen Lord,” he said.
He urged the youth to embrace the practice: “Let us set our alarms at 20:33 as a daily reminder to pause and pray silently, wherever we may be.”
Around 350 participants from eight districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh joined the effort, labeling their alarms “Thy Kingdom Come” and pledging to recite the prayer each evening.
Former Chief Minister Mukut Mithi, addressing the inaugural session, encouraged the youth to look beyond employment and aim for social transformation. “You carry the power and imagination to shape the future. Preserve your cultural identity and traditional wisdom, while aspiring towards scientific excellence,” he said.
Youth President Khuntang Mossang reflected, “This is not merely about setting an alarm—it is our commitment to actively participate in and prepare for the Great Jubilee 2033.”
Assistant Professor Wanglit Mongchan of Rajiv Gandhi University added that such practices would leave “a lasting spiritual impact as the Church journeys towards 2033.”
The convention featured cultural dances, Bible tableaux, group discussions, and the election of new office-bearers. Jesus Youth President Junnem Langching expressed joy at the collective prayer: “It is beautiful that all of us will be united in prayer at the same time—20:33—with one voice, praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.”
