New Delhi, June 28, 2026: As part of a nationwide National Day of Prayer, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India began nine hours of continuous Eucharistic Adoration June 28 in New Delhi, praying for the Church in India and the nation.

The observance followed concerns over the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Act Amendment Bill, 2026, prompting the CBCI to call for united prayer across the country. Catholics were urged to entrust the nation to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, revered as Queen of India.

At the CBCI Centre, Father Mathew Koyickal, deputy secretary general, led opening prayers invoking guidance, protection, and wisdom for leaders and citizens. Priests, religious, staff and lay faithful participated in silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day.

The devotion will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with Benediction and a final blessing. Church leaders said the initiative affirms faith in prayer while seeking justice, harmony, religious freedom and the well-being of all people in India.

CBCI Media said the effort reflects solidarity among dioceses and communities, emphasizing peaceful response to legal uncertainty and continued commitment to democratic values and social service across the diverse nation. Organizers said participation remained steady throughout the day across parishes nationwide.
