Kozhikode, Jan 14, 2019: Swami Agnivesh, eminent social activist and Arya Samaj leader, deplored the atrocities on Christians like that witnessed in Kandhamal jungles of Odisha ‘shameful for the nation’ on January 12 while releasing at Kozhikode a documentary exposing Sangh Parivar’s Kandhamal fraud and travesty of Justice.
“As an Indian, I am ashamed of what has happened in Kandhamal,” said Agnivesh who had protested the 1984 anti-Sikh carnage in Delhi, torching of Graham Staines and his two minor sons in Odisha in 1999 and Gujarat carnage of Muslims in 2002, at the release of the Malayalam version of the documentary ‘niraparadhikal thadavarayil’ (Innocents Imprisoned) produced by senior journalist Anto Akkara.
After the brutal attacks on the Christians, Agnivesh lamented that “seven innocent Christians are in jail for a decade now. I have met the wives of these men in jail and I cannot understand why they are in jail.”
“It is shameful that innocents are in jail while the culprits are roaming free and key conspirators are in powerful chairs of authority. It is only because the judiciary has stood behind the Sangh Parivar that the innocents are in jail. It is time to challenge the pliable judiciary,” Agnivesh fumed.
‘Niraparadhikal Thadavaarayil’ is the Malayalam dubbing of the documentary ‘Innocents Imprisoned’ produced by Akkara, who has been a voice to the Kandhamal people with his investigative books and advocacy, on the 10th anniversary of Kandhamal.
The Odia version of the same had been released by the wives of the innocents in jail in Bhubaneswar and Hindi version was released at Delhi Assembly auditorium, hosted by the Delhi Minorities Commission.
“The conspiracy is rooted in Swami Laxmananada’s boastful claim that Europe, US, Pope and Sonia Gandhi wanted to eliminate him. Armed with this Swami claim as evidence, Sangh Parivar hatched the Kandhamal conspiracy,” Akkara explained before the screening of the 18-minute documentary.
‘Innocents Imprisoned’ is the visual presentation of the Kandhamal fraud and travesty of justice, exposed in Akkara’s nationally acclaimed book ‘Who Killed Swami Laxmanananda?’
All the four versions of the documentary (English, Odia, Hindi and Malayalam) are now available for viewing at www.release7innocents.com – the website for the online signature campaign for the release of the innocents anchored by the journalist who has made 27 trips to Kandhamal.
“Kandhamal was a massive political conspiracy – ploy to trap Sonia Gandhi, of Italian Catholic origin and then ruling UPA chairperson, to dismiss the Odisha government in which the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) was a coalition partner at the time. The 7 innocents including a mentally challenged are in jail by the subversion of the judicial system to perpetrate the Sangh Parivar conspiracy,” said the journalist author.
The documentary exposes the Hindu nationalist fraud by the killing of 81-year old Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati on Janmashtami night of August 23, 2008 and taking his dead body around in Kandhamal for two days to incite the Hindus to attack the Christians spreading promptly the ‘news’ that Swami killing was a Christian conspiracy. In unabated violence that gripped Kandhamal for weeks, nearly one hundred Christians were killed, three hundred churches and 6,000 Christian houses were plundered and torched rendering 56,000 homeless.
The documentary lists even Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, BJP general secretary and Praveen Togadia as key conspirators behind Kandhamal, citing clinching documents including the slain swami’s boastful claim.
“The Hindu culture is known for tolerance. Like a loving mother, it embraces one and all. But the Sangh Parivar has turned the loving mother into murderer – who kills her own children,” lamented national Sahitya Academy award winner and literateur KP Ramanunni speaking on the occasion.
“Sangh Parivar efforts in the country now are trying to change the motto of the nation from ‘satyameva jayate’ (truth alone triumphs) to ‘asataymeva jayate (falsehood alone triumphs). It is time to re-assert the motto ‘satyameva jayate’ with challenging efforts like the Kandhamal expose made by Anto Akkara with determined research at great risk,” said the popular Hindu author.
A compressed version of the book ‘Who Killed Swami Laxmamananda?’ with the same title ‘Niraparadhikal Thadavarayik’ was also released on the occasion.
