Ahmedabad — In a sad incident for entire Gujarat Police and people of Gujarat, an injured Police Sub Inspector Arjunsinh Vala who was mowed down by a car carrying illegally transported liquor when he tried to stop the vehicle near Shamlaji in north Gujarat was declared dead today in hospital.
Vala was hospitalized in Ahmeadbad’s Apolo hospital for treatment after he suffered injury when bootlegger mowed down him.
Vala was an active cop and he had created trouble for those transporting illegal liquor from Rajasthan to Gujarat through Shamlaji border check post.
On 23 March he was on duty with Mukeshbhai Prajapati and Jitubhai near Rudardi village, while the other Local Crime Branch(LCB) staff was on duty near Shamlaji bus station.
LCB team asked a Maruti Swift car GJ 01KS 4389 to stop at Shamlaji bus station, but car didn’t stop. LCB chased the car. In the meantime, PSI AK Vala blocked the highway to catch the car using government vehicles near Rudardi.
When car arrived there and PSI Vala tried to stop it, two bootleggers in car mowed down Police Sub Inspector(PSI) Vala. This caused serious head injury to PSI Vala, reported DeshGujarat.
Police force present on that location chased the car and held bootleggers from Ruadardi village.
Injured PSI was first taken to Himmatnagar and later to Ahmedabad for treatment. He was declared dead yesterday night.
Police has arrested bootlegger Mavsingh Narsinh Rathod and Chandansingh Khumansingh Rathod. Car was owned by Surendranagar based bootlegger Shaktisinh.
Vala was first posted at Dhansura in Arvalli district of north Gujarat. He was later posted at Shamlaji police station.
It has to be mentioned here that one of two bootleggers who killed PSI Vala was arrested by PSI Vala on earlier occasion in September 2014 with Rs. 1.57 lakh liquor from Ratanpur.
Two accused Mavsingh Narsingh Rathod from Basi village of Udaipur district in Rajasthan and Chandansingh Khumansingh Rathod were booked under section 307(attempt of murder) and Prohibition Act. They may now face murder charge. The case is being investigated by Police Inspector KV Sagar.
