Kathmandu: Students and teachers of Nepal Don Bosco School who survived a devastating earthquake set aside their woes to bring solace to others in misery.

Past and present students along with teachers gave up snacks, movies, meals, meat, chocolates, party and even favorite ice creams to raise funds for quake relief. On Monday, they visited Shankapur Nagarpalikka Ward No. 15 Inderni to spend a day with earthquake affected families.

They not only gave things to the survivors but sat with them to listen to their agony and difficulties. Old women narrated their harrowing experience with tears in their eyes.

“I feel so happy that I could reach out to those people,” said a student. Another said, “I could feel their agony as they narrated their fears and difficulties during the earthquake and the days that followed up to now.”

School principal Salesian Father Savio Rai said, “It was a learning experience for all of us.
