Kochi — Archbishop Francis Kallarakkal of Verapoly said it was quite natural that the Catholic Church reacted when the ‘culture of death’ was spreading.
He was speaking after inaugurating a meeting organised to protest against the proposed amendments to the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, relaxing the conditions for abortion.
The protest meeting was jointly organised by the Archdioceses of Ernakulam- Angamaly and Verapoly; and the Family Commission and the Pro-Life Committee under the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC).
Life in any state is divine. The Catholic Church has always resisted threats to all forms of life. Nobody has the right to destroy life. Our administrators should promote the culture of life.
KCBC Family Commission chairman Bishop Mar Sebastian presided over the function.
