Moreh: Curfew has been imposed in Moreh in Chandel district of Manipur after fresh clashes broke out between two groups over the Inner Line Permit issue, agencies reported.
Miscreants allegedly burnt shops and hotels, and security forces were rushed to the spot. No one was seriously injured.
On Monday, five students on indefinite hunger strike demanding Inner Line Permit in Manipur were arrested, and admitted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Imphal after their health condition deteriorated.
According to the report, police lobbed teargas shells and used rubber bullets to disperse the protesters who pelted stones to prevent the arrest.
A senior police officer had also been allegedly injured.
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System has been spearheading the agitation demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
The groups clashed with arms in Moreh, which borders Myanmar, and set ablaze some shops and roadside hotels.
