Kochi – Two T-School girls from Assam represented northeast India in a national competition on business innovation held at Kochi last week. Both are seventh semester students of Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) School of Technology at Azara – Miss Mousumi Das and Miss Masiha Sabnam. They were among 20 teams shortlisted for the final events held at Kochi from some 600 entries from all over India.
The competition was about proposing “an innovative idea for their company which will make a good profit,” says Mousumi Das of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering who along with her companion submitted a proposal for V-Guard Big Business Plan Completion.
“We were the only one from north east and the only Engineering College team while all others were from Business Management Colleges,” Miss Das said.
Her companion Miss Masiha Sabnam quickly added, “we proposed a new product closely connected to their (V-Guard’s) first successful product – stabilizer with little modification – ie., stabilizer with a power back up system which is not yet introduced in the market.”
V-Guard Chairman Mr. Kouchouseph Chittilappily and Managing Director Mr. Mithun Chittilappily and other corporate dignitaries were present at the final events held, 16-17 October at Hotel Dream Kochi.
After finishing the northeast team’s presentation judges said, “it’s a nice proposal and in future we can work on the new product.”
Winners were all from B-Schools who won first prize Rs. 1 lakh, second prize Rs. 50,000 and third prize Rs. 25000, plus two special jury awards of Rs. 1,000 each.
“Though we did not win any prize, we got special mention by the jury who said “we are very happy that people came from far away Assam for the competition. Guwahati is a beautiful place and also north east has talent.”
Girls were particularly grateful to ADBU Assistant Professor Mr. Jyoti Kumar Barman for his guidance.
