Aizawl : With the death of a youth today, due to suspected consumption of wild mushroom in the Mizoram-Bangladesh-Tripura border town Mamit, six persons have died under same circumstances since April seven.

Vanlalhriata, who died at the ICU in Aizawl Civil Hospital during the day, ate the mushroom preparations at the residence of Saikhuma (35) along with six family members.

The mushroom was collected from the nearby jungle on the evening of April four, Business Standard reported.

All the six members of the family and the lone guest complained of serious discomfort after the dinner and were admitted in the Mamit District Hospital where the second eldest ten year-old son died on April seven night, followed by his eight year old younger brother and the father on April eight.

The mother Ramdinmawii (34) died on April ten, followed by the eldest son Saihmingthanga (12) on Wednesday last with only the three year-old daughter Miriam Lalremruati discharged from hospital recently.

The state health department officials said that the samples of the mushroom were sent to laboratories outside the state to determine the cause of the deaths.
