New Delhi: Manipur’s two insurgent outfits Kuki National Organization (KNO) and United People’s Front (UPF) on Wednesday joined in parleys with the Centre to bring lasting peace in their area of influence.

The first round of talks was held here after the central government decided to hold tripartite talks between it, Manipur government and the two insurgent groups — KNO and UPF, reported The Times of India.

The rebel groups indicated their demands in the presence of representatives of central and state governments, a home ministry official said.

The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere and the next round of discussions will be held in consultation with the government of Manipur, KNO and UPF, the official added.
