Imphal: Incessant rains for a week have sunk major parts of a village in Manipur eastern India.

At least eight houses have been damaged in Sirarakhong, a village in Ukhrul district

Moreover, around 15 feet of Mahadev-Tolloi Road has sunk that has cut off Sirarakhong village from the rest of the state.

Village chairperson L Ngathingyao told The Sangai Express that the eight sunk houses were built on the side of the playground constructed anew.
The was no human casualty, but the affected families have taken shelter relatives’ houses.

The chairperson also appealed to the state authorities to send immediate relief and repair the road.

Ngathingyao urged the authorities to an expert team to take steps for rehabilitation those affected.

Manipur witnessed incessant rains and thunderstorms that wreaked havoc in different parts of the state.

Sirarakhong is located 1,662 m above sea level,and about 85 km northeast of Imphal, the state capital.
