Kochi: Syro-Malabar Church Internet Mission (SMCIM) has launched its mobile application. Cardinal George Alencherry, head of Syro-Malabar Church, inaugurated the application at the Church headquarters at Mount St Thomas in Kakkanad near Kochi.
Chairman of SMCIM Bishop Jose Perunnedom and Secretary Fr Joby Joseph Maprakavil were present at the inaugral function.
The application which will be initially available on Android devices is aimed to provide easy access to information on the Church’s heads, institutions dioceses, religious congregations and parishes.
Applications for parishes and religious congregations can also be downloaded using the application. It is also expected to enable easy broadcast of events from different parishes and dioceses under the Syro Malabar Church.
SMCIM was started as per the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church in August 2006 to design and operate official websites of the Syro Malabar Church.
The project aims at connecting all the Syro-Malabar dioceses, religious congregations , institutions, parishes, families and members through internet based services .
