Kochi: A heritage art-expo was held at Kanjoor St Mary’s Forane church as part of the 54th edition of the annual symposium, organized by the Liturgical Research Centre of the Syro-Malabar Church.
The three-day seminar, which focused on the heritage of the Church in Kerala, came to a conclusion at Ernakulam on Sunday.
The art-expo was attended by more than 30 artists from different parts of the country. Students and teachers from the Sanskrit university and RLV Arts and Science College attended the expo. The expo was aimed at educating the younger generation about the Church’s heritage in the state., The Times of India reported.
The altar of the Kanjoor Church, its baptistery made of a single stone, aanavilaku donated by Shakthan Thanpuran and other art works in the church made the organizers select Kanjoor church for the expo.
The artworks in the church were depicted through paintings by artists.
The paintings would be displayed at the Christian Museum at Mount St Thomas, Kakkanad.
Artist Francis Kodamkath inaugurated the expo on Sunday. Bishop Tony Neelankavil delivered a speech at the inaugural meeting.
