New Delhi, Nov. 18, 2018: A group of Church leaders at a seminar in Delhi stressed promotion of gender justice in Church institutions.

United Christian Action (UCA) organized the seminar on workplaces for women on November 17 at Nishman School, Delhi.

Speakers included advocates Anupama Bhat and Sister Teresa Paul, who has written books on the subject, St Stephens College professor Karen Gabriel and activist politician Kavita Krishnan. Former National Minorities Commission secretary Esther Kar chaired the seminar.

Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi delivered the inaugural address. Bishop Waris Masih of Church of North India’s Delhi diocese also spoke.

UCA president John Dayal said the group will collaborate in workshops on gender security in Christian educational, medical and other institutions.

“The speeches of the speakers brought out the need for gender justice in Christian Institutions,” said Maria Stanislaus, a participant.

The UCA was formed in 1993 to answer the need for responsible Christians throughout India to guide co-religionists in utilizing resources in the best possible way for the community and society.
