Kochi, December 9, 2019: Atheist-turned-ascetic Swami Sachidananda Bharathi will organize a-one-day Sarva Matha Sangamam (Interreligious Meeting) on December 15 at Pastoral Orientation Centre, Palarivattam, Kochi.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan will inaugurate “the Integral Renaissance of Kerala” and the Navasrushti Kerala Mission at 10 am, said Swami Bharathi.
The event will continue till 4:30 pm.
Swami Bharathi head Kerala-based Dharma Bharathi Navsrishti (righteous India new creation).
Cardinal George Alencherry, the president of Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), an association of the Catholic bishops of all three rites in the state, will preside over the function.
Bishop Joseph Mar Gregorios, Metropolitan Trustee, Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church, will be the chief guest for the valedictory function.
He will also inaugurate a network of Sanyasis termed “Navasrushi Sanyasi Sangamam” who will provide spiritual guidance to the Integral Renaissance Movement, said Swami Bharathi, the convener.
All peace-loving people of Kerala, especially the retired ex-defense personnel, are most welcome to join the mission, he said.
There will be another event for the enlightened leadership program on December 28 at Dharma Bharathi Ashram, Mulanthuruthy, Kochi.
The swami was an atheist and an Indian Air Force Squadron Leader who became a promoter of peace and spirituality after an encounter with death in an air accident in 1982 when he was 35.
The ascetic is popularly known as ‘Air Force Baba.’
He renounced private property and family life in 1996 with the permission of his wife, an officer in the Indian Revenue Service. In 2003 he founded the ‘Bharathi’ Chaturashrama Sanyasa Parampara and took the name ‘Swami Sachidananda Bharathi.’
The Swami has traveled widely and has authored a number of books. He was one of the delegates who represented India in the ‘Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders’ organized by the United Nations in August 2000.
The Swami undertook a year-long peace pilgrimage across India during the year 2007 and initiated the ‘Second Freedom Struggle’ for a ‘Hunger-free, Caste-free and Corruption-free India’ that is now being transformed into an ‘Integral Revolution.’
