Aizawl, April 2, 2020: Father Sebastian Mali of the Congregation of the Mission (CM) or the Vincentians has been appointed as the first regional superior of the newly erected the North East region of the religious order.

The Seven Sisters of the Northeastern states of India was declared as the new Region of the Congregation of the Mission in November last year by Father Tomaz Mavric, Superior General.

After four months of its erection as the new Region, Father Mali is elected as the new Regional superior of the said Region, said Father Naresh Nayak, a Vincentian.

The appointment of the new Regional Superior was made public by the Visitor of the North Indian Province of the Congregation of the Mission, Father Prakash Tirkey on April 2 amid COVID-19 quarantines and has given this good news to the region for its growth and missionary endeavors.

It is noteworthy that the members of the North Indian Province have elected a missionary, visionary and a zealous Vincentian as its first regional head, said Father Nayak.

Father Mali has been working in the Northeast Region for more than a decade.

At present, he is the parish priest and principal of St. Vincent’s Parish and School, Pailapool, Assam in the diocese of Aizawl.

He has served the province in different capacities in the past as pioneer missionary, pastor, principal and administrator.
