Patna: Job seekers need to become “extra careful” while posting comments on social media, business school experts say.

“Any adverse post on social media platforms would affect your employability,” says Ajay Pathak, director of Kolkata’s Business School attached to the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI).

Addressing the student of St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology in Patna in a webinar on October 11, Pathak said employers always looked into the various social media accounts of job-seekers.

The webinar on “Decision Making for Career or Personal Life and Bringing Out the Leader Inside Them” was organized by the Jesuit college’s placement cell.

Stating that the “secret sauce” for success is three pillars—Academic, Personality development and Placement—Pathak asked students to read books, newspapers and keep themselves updated on happenings around them.

Talking about the current scenario, Pathak said, “Time is never on a holiday. Don’t get into fear of uncertainty. Have patience, have resilience. You will do well in life. Always dream big as dreams do not have an expiry date.”

He also explained to the students that personality development will happen only when they realize their worth and set a short-term goal. “Once employed, set leadership level as your goal,” he added.

Abhishek Kundu, regional manager at IBS, said effective decision making was a key ingredient in organizational effectiveness. He also gave some important tips on taking rational decisions that would guard against “inappropriate assumptions and pitfalls.”
