Jagdalpur: A mob attacked a Christian for not renouncing his faith in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, Persecution Relief reported October 17.

The man identified only as Jaithal, who lives in a village in Jagdalpur district, had received warnings and threats to recant his faith and return to Hinduism.

Around 30 people came to his house at 4 pm October 6, abused and threatened him to forsake Christ.

When Jaithal refused the mob started kicking and beating him, until he collapsed. He was taken to a nearby government hospital by the Central Reserve Police Force, and was hospitalized for three days.

Jaithal registered a case, but police were slow as they apparently wanted to suppress it as a support to the attackers.

When contacted, Jaithal told Persecution Relief said, “The believers gather in my home during worship and prayer services. Church pastor or elders visit my house regularly to pray.”

Jaithal also said the attack was to frighten and demoralize the five Christian families in the village.

  1. It is shocking to see such incidents happen in SECULAR India.
If law enforcers are protecting criminals can we say Secular India.
India is going the wrong way. The secular India is being destroyed.
    Choose wisely and vote carefully.

  2. Some firebrands of the majority community who are the blind supporters of the ruling party at the Center – the BJP/RSS combine who are behind the attack. The police support the attackers. If they cannot find anything against the man then they will accuse him of trying to convert locals. The police silently support them.

  3. Very unfortunate events are taking place in modern India. God bless the perpetrators..
