New Delhi: The Archdiocese of Delhi is being awarded for the “One and Only Star-Shaped Church” in the World by the Best of India Records.

The award was received by Archbishop Anil JT Couto of Delhi at the Archbishop House, on November 25.

The Morning Star Church opened to the public on October 10 is in Najafgarh in the southwest district of Delhi.

It is a unique star-shaped church named ‘Morning Star’ as part of its eco-spirituality centre. The marvelously designed pentagon structure looks like a star from all five sides of the pentagon and from the top. It stands 52-feet tall with a 14-feet star-cross on it, said Fr. Stanley Kozhichira.

He also received an award for the concept of the church.

The design and concept are by Limca Record Holder Fr. Kozhichira and the architectural design by Ranjith John and Joel John.

Father Kozhichira had received Limca Book of Records for a play “Ars Ke Krantikari” he wrote and directed in 2012.

The concept was executed by Abraham Mathew of Ark Infratech and Joseph and James of JJ Infratech.

  1. The shape of a church building is not important. How it shapes people’s lives is.

  2. What is the Catholic Church in India doing? Building monuments when Jesus is homeless!!!

It is time for sincere introspection when almost 40% of the Indian population lives below the poverty line. Their basic needs of food, clothes, shelter, health and education are rarely met. The church must become a “morning star” for these people, build their lives and help them lead a dignified life.

The final judgement will not be based on how many monuments we built. Let us always remember the criteria for the last judgement as mentioned in Mt. 25:31-46.
