Mumbai: A group of faith educators in Mumbai has come up with a novel way to teach catechism to children – through action songs on video. They are also offering 24 popular children’s songs music track for vernacular language production.
Father Dominic Martis, rector of Don Bosco High School and Junior College and parish priest of Mary Help of Christians at Naigaon in Vasai diocese, launched the Bible Action Songs for Catechism Children on YouTube channel, January 10.
The sing-along with biblical action song for children is produced by former Regional Delegate for BOSCOM South Asia Father Joaquim Fernandes.
“A great initiative by Father Fernandes, the video has excellent content and has the potential to engage children in the faith formation in our parishes,” says Father Martis.
“The YouTube channel aims to give the best possible content to children that ignites their creative passion and lead them to love Jesus,” says Father Fernandes who started the work on the Bible Action Songs for children which is contained in his earlier book “Jesus – The Prince of Peace, First Communion Catechism”.
“Video is everywhere — from traditional delivery platforms such as television to the smartphone in your pocket. There is increasing demand for video production as technological advances have made it possible for the church to use video as a communications platform,” says Creative Head of the Project Nelson Fernandes.
Coping with the pandemic times, the producers provided the children with the minus one track and then recorded the songs on WhatsApp platform after which they mixed audio tracks in a professional studio.
The audio mixing and mastering of tracks was done by Dennis Mhowdawalla, while Francis Gigool played the keyboard and programmed the music tracks.
Creative director Nelson Fernandes worked on the story board and processed the music and created the animation and visual effects for the video production.
The animation song entitled “God is so Good” is available on YouTube.
