Rome: Pope Francis has appointed Society of Jesus priest Henry Pattarumadathil as a member of Pontifical Biblical Commission .
57-year- old Father Pattarumadathil who hails from Kerala in Southern India was ordained as a priest for the Kerala Province of Society of Jesus in 1995 . He obtained Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from Pontifical Biblical Institute in 2000 and Doctorate in Biblical Theology from Pontifical Gregorian University in 2007 .
Father Pattarumadathil was serving as Associate Professor at Pontifical Bible Institue in Rome from 2013. He was a member of Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference (KCBC) team for Malayalam New Testament revision from 2008-2009. He was also Director of studies at Jesuit Regional Theology Centre in Kalady, Kerala from 2008 to 2010.
He has published several books, articles and reviews in both English and Malayalam. Sermon on the Mount: Analysis and Interpretation (in Malayalam), Your Father in Heaven: Discipleship in Matthew as a Process of Becoming Children of God and Yathri (a biblical meditation book for youth in Malayalam) are some his famous books.
