Kohima: Catholics of Nagaland will observe May 7 as a ‘Day of Prayer and Fasting’ for relief from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per a press release received here, the Bishop’s House, Kohima has informed of the invitation from Oswald Cardinal Gracias, President of Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) in consultation with the heads of the Syro Malabar and Syro Malankara Churches “to unitedly turn to God in this time of distress, panic and sorrow caused by the spread of COVID-19 infections.”

Leaders of other churches, especially the NCCI and EFI have also agreed to join the prayer on the same day, the release informed.

Every community and parish have been requested to spend an hour before the blessed Sacrament, praying various prayers and rosary, praying for an end to the pandemic, healing for those infected, comfort for those in mourning, courage and consolation for our frontline workers and success to the efforts of those involved in research and production of medicine and vaccines.
