Bengaluru: A Christian delegation led by Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore has called on Karnataka’s new Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.

Archbishop Machado, who is the chairperson of the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishop’s Council, congratulated the governor for assuming his new office.

The prelate conveyed the greetings of good wishes of the entire Christian community in the southern Indian state and assured the governor his prayers.

The delegation met the governor on July 29 and Gehlot had assumed office July 11.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the governor promised the Christian delegation that he would be always available to them. He also deeply appreciated the Christian community’s contributions and services to society.

J A Kanthraj, public relations officer of the Bangalore archdiocese, said the Christian delegation found the governor gentle, warm, pleasant and receptive.

The other members of the delegation included Catholic Bishop Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath of Mandya, Church of South India Bishop P K Samuel, , Monsignor C Francis, vicar general of Bangalore archdiocese and Kanthraj.

  1. The whole country knows that “President of India” and “State Governor” are just “decorative posts”. The President and the Governors are just “PUPPETS” in the hands of the ruling federal government.

    The Christian delegation should have met the newly appointed CM Bommai, instead of the Governor.
