Rome, Oct. 6, 2021: The 24th general chapter of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco (FMA) elected Sister Chiara Cazzuola as its 11th superior general.

The election took place on October 5.

Sister Cazzuola will lead the congregation for the next six years.

Father Angel Fernandez Artime, rector major of the Salesian Society and his predecessor Father Pascual Chavez Villanueva congratulated the new superior general and assured her full support.

Sister Cazzuola was born in 1955 at Campiglia Marittima-Livorno in Italy. A member of the Tuscan province, she graduated in literary subjects and served as a teacher and principal of several schools. For several years she was the provincial coordinator of Youth Ministry

In 2001, when the provinces of Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany were unified, she was nominated provincial councilor for formation.

In 2007, she was appointed provincial of the same province, with headquarters in La Spezia.

The general chapter in 2008 elected her visiting general councilor and she visited several provinces in America and Europe during 2008-2014.

In 2014 the superior general appointed her the moderator of the 23rd general chapter that elected her vicar general.
