MUMBAI, October 27, 2026: St. Vincent Pallotti Parish’s Green Cell hosted the Archdiocese of Bombay’s first-ever Eco Mela on Oct. 18, 2026, drawing environmental enthusiasts from across Mumbai to support the region’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals.

The event, held in the parish hall at Marol Maroshi, a neighborhood and major roadway in Mumbai, featured more than 30 stalls alongside hands-on workshops led by local experts.

Presenters demonstrated practical eco-friendly skills, including balcony vegetable and microgreen cultivation, home organic waste composting, and producing cleaning fluids from food peels.

Visitors participated in workshops on traditional techniques, such as creating corn husk flowers, patchwork quilts, crochet, quilling, terracotta jewelry, and origami. A Warli art session allowed participants to learn bag-painting techniques directly from skilled artists.

The mela’s marketplace offered nature-based personal care products, including organic soaps, shampoos, and perfumes, as well as handmade jewelry, handbags, home furnishings, and decor.

Local educational institutions, including Divine Child High School & Junior College from Chakala, Andheri, and Hasanat High School from Marol, participated with dedicated student and teacher displays.

Through handcrafted posters and interactive exhibits, students educated attendees on environmental conservation while engaging younger visitors with educational activities.

Additionally, members of the Indian Women’s Scientists’ Association provided information regarding their community outreach initiatives. The event also featured a food court serving traditional and local breakfast and lunch dishes for attendees.
