Jaipur: Two priests were on September 27 ordained for Jaipur, one of the three dioceses in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan.

Bishop Oswald Lewis of Jaipur led the ordination ceremonies of Fathers Jackson Rodrigues and Vishal Madtha at 5 at Our Lady of Annunciation Cathedral in Malviya Naga, a suburb of the state capital of Jaipur.

The coronavirus pandemic has restricted the diocese to limit the number of people attending the program.

Besides 34 priests, a few religious sisters and laity attended the ceremonies keeping the guidelines given by the administration.

In his homily, Bishop Lewis said, “It is challenging to offer one’s whole like for God and for the service of people. But it is time to become a real witness and to become a second Christ to the world.”

The newly ordained priests have taken their motto as “Being called to serve in humility.”

While thanking everyone, Father Madtha said, “It is a blessing and privilege to work in Jaipur diocese under the leadership of Bp. Oswald Lewis.” Both the new priests hail from Mangaluru in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

  1. Serving in humility the last, the least, and the lost is a noble mission. It’s an important step in nation-building. Hats off to the two young men. Congratulations.

  2. If Covid guidelines were followed, then, where are the Masks and Social Distancing? Actions speak louder than words.
